During #MARCHINtosh 2024, I raised funds to purchase a boxed copy of Apple Internet Router v3.0.1, with a view to digitising/preserving the contents, then donating the whole package to the Australian Computer Museum Society (of which I am a member, sysop, and committee member).

At the start of #MARCHintosh 2025, I released the scanned and OCRed manual, along with an Addendum I had prepared.

I used some modern tools, and some not so modern ones, to scan, process, clean, and OCR the scanned version, along with replicating graphics which did not scan well.

I recreated the layout in Affinity Designer for the Addendum (drawing on my time in the printing and publishing industries), and members of the GlobalTalk community reviewed and proofed it before release. It can be printed, cut to size, and inserted into a real AIR manual binder.

Before this release, the only version of the manual online was a text only version – similar to other such manual texts, it’s my conjecture that these originated from the publishing house which produced the original manual (or the text provided to them by Apple).

I will be updating the Addendum for #MARCHintosh 2026 – expect a release before the end of the month.
